All about Cayden post

Cayden is turning 3 on Saturday.  So exciting!  But because of that he is being "kicked out" of the program he is in now that is helping with his speech.  He has greatly improved from when we started with this program a year ago.  He's actually using words instead of grunting and pointing (most of the time).  And he actually knows tons of words, all his letters (except Q) and his numbers 1-10.  Cayden is super smart except he can't talk as a normal 3 year old can.  So because he still isn't up to what is expected of a 3 yr old, he was tested through the School district.  He was determined eligible for services through them.  So Cayden gets to go to preschool!  So awesome! :) :) We went this morning to meet his teacher and to set his IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals.  Like: Have Cayden be able to say 1-2 word phrases independently.  His teacher Miss Aubrey is so cute!  And his speech therapist also seems so nice.  :)

But I am sad to have to say good-bye to Cayden's "provider" through the program he's getting kicked out of.  Melissa has been so awesome.  She would come 2x a month to help Cayden out.  I know Cayden will miss her.  He'd always wait for her to come by the window and get so excited when he say her walking up.  He is always so sad to see her leave to. She has helped so much with his speech and it was a blessing to have her in our slightly dirty home every month!  She will grately be missed.

But I am super excited for him to start Preschool and to learn even more!  The Speech therapist will work with him in his "general education" class.  So I'm thrilled he'll be in a class with other kids who don't need speech therapy!  The speech therapist will spend time each day helping him.  Yay!! I was so worried about him not qualifying but hoping he wouldn't need it at the same time.  But I'm grateful he's getting more help so that he can be ready for Kindergarten in time!  :)

He's such a cutie! A friend of ours down here has a kid in something like the preschool you are talking about. She loves it- she cannot rave enough!
