Yay! New Adventures!

(kinda lengthy.. sorry.. but it is worth the read, I promise!)

Today was a regular session with Melissa, Cayden's speech therapist. It was awesome! He seems to talk and make sounds for her and her only! It gets frustrating cause he'll only do his "eh eh eh" sounds and grunts with us but for her, he's doing all sorts of words and sounds! Makes us out to be liars! haha.. Cause we're always like eh... he seems to have backtracked, blah blah blah.. Then Cayden pulls out all the stops for pretty Melissa! ;)

The exciting part though is that Melissa wants to set up a play group/ play school (a pre-school for 2-3 yr olds) through DDI Vantage (which is the company that his speech therapy comes thru). Anyway.. I'm just really excited because its another thing like with Melissa where its one on one for a while but with a bunch of other kids. And its just like a preschool with snack time and play time. Its for an hour and a half on Mondays and Wednesdays. I'm excited because we don't really get much exposure with other kids except through Nursery and cousins.

That last part is what I'm most excited about. We had a little incident on the playground yesterday with a kid that was prob almost Cayden's age but Cayden's the size of a 4 yr old and this little one was a smaller child (but could talk! so I dunno how old..) anyway.. Cayden decided it'd be fun to step on his little hands.. So sad huh?? (yet the little kids mom decided to leave right after that and Cayden about had an anxiety attack cause he didn't want him to go.. uhhhh...)

I talked to Melissa about it and she says that at a 2 yr old age, kids are not programmed to be mean or naughty.. Its more of defending their space and exploring. Like her example was if you're looking straight at your kid and you say don't you dare turn on the TV and they do it anyway.. it's like an impulse to do it because they have to try it.. Which makes a lot of things make sense. It just takes a while for kids to completely understand and "get it" when it comes to not hitting and all that. Melissa said that kids eventually will understand that they don't want to hit their friends!! Hahah.. :)

Whew.. another lengthy post! Sorry! I just get to typing and more comes to mind!! OH! And with this play school thing, I don't have to be in the room! Moms can either leave for errands or whatever, or sit in this lobby area with a one way mirror to watch the kids! Cool huh? I can't wait to get him enrolled and stuff.. Super excited!! :) :) Creighton kicks in agreement.. hehe :) I'm excited to be able to practice the stuff I'm learning with Cayden on Creighton when he's older...
