Well now Cayden's been there twice. I think he's enjoying it. They have a particular routine that do and go through. Cayden's not one for structure.. Hence the reason he's going? ;) There are 2 other little boys and I believe that they both have other problems than just speech therapy. But they are darn cute! :) Each boy has their own individual teacher. So they have one on one time throughout the whole time.
I'm going to try to explain their routine. We wait to for the teachers to get them out in the lobby where the big one way mirror is so that as parents, we can watch. The boys go in and they sit in chairs while the teachers do "calming" techniques. (Doesn't really work with Cayden) After the calming, they put on backpacks (helps with balance?) and do a seesaw and then take turns going down the slide. Yesterday they had this cool swing thing. After that, they do their stations. With each station they take an object off the velcro board that has their pictures on it. The boys take the objects to the station and put it in a box. When they are done with that station, the object is put in the finish box by the Velcro board. And they get the next object and so on and so forth. Some of the stations are drums, sand, snack time, reading time, music time and this other one. They have them put on huge shirts. And pour (I think) pixie sticks onto a plate and they have them lick their fingers and put them in the pixie sticks. I think its a texture thing.
Its really interesting to watch them. Cayden does not like to go where they go or take turns. Like he'll do the slide and then run off and try to do something else. Put they are really good with him and very patient. I think they kinda have to be.. But so far, I'm really enjoying this and I think Cayden is too. He gets so excited when I ask if he's ready for school. :) And when I ask about playing with his friends - Ryker and Benjamin. The only bad thing is its right when he naps. So he has to have early naps which is bad because he wakes up cranky. But that's shortly live when I talk about going to school.
Anyway.. another long post - sorry.
