Yesterday was full of fun and stress. We started off with lunch at IKEA with Adam's mom and decided to look around. Adam and I already decided we were getting Cayden a big boy bed and we were looking for something to put under the mattress (like a box spring). Anyway we found these wooden slats that Ikea sells for 20 bucks to put in the metal bed frame we were getting.
So we got that and we're almost to the check out stand and we went over to the "AS-IS" section. It was a good and bad thing. Adam's mom spotted the exact crib we wanted to get from Ikea for 25% off. So she took Cayden (who is never fun at any store) so that Adam and I could discuss whether or not we could afford it at the moment or should we wait and just buy the crib at full price. After about 15 to 20 minutes of discussing, we decided to buy it. It was already put together and was probably on the floor as a display and had one scratch that we could see.
So we bought our stuff (Adam bought me a chocolate bar which was divine) and went to go try to see if it'd fit in the back of our car. No such luck. Ford Escapes are big but not that big. So we took it apart and had to strap the sides and bottom of the crib to the top of the car. As we went home, I was scared it was going to fall off but Cayden got super bored and fell asleep. hehe. It was 3 o'clock by the time we got to our exit (after dropping off Adam's mom).
After his nap, we went to Target. Cayden picked out an oversized Thomas the Tank Engine fleece blanket as his "comforter" and red sheets for his big boy bed. Apparently at bedtime, Cayden wanted to be back in his crib (which was still in the room cause we didn't have time to take it apart before I left for work and for some reason Adam's tools are in the Escape). But Adam read him a book. Cayden did try to follow Adam out of his room but Adam told him it was bedtime and he needed to go back to bed. So Cayden went in and shut his own door and Adam didn't hear a peep except for a little whining for about 10 seconds. We let Cayden have a sippie in his room but he never drinks it to go to bed. Its a rarity to find it empty when we go in and see if he needs a diaper change at about 1 or 1:30 in the morning (when I get home). But when Adam did go to see if he needed a change, Cayden was surprisingly still on his bed curled up with his blankie in one hand and Thomas blanket in the other.
Now this morning, I woke up to his little light show/music box playing and was quite confused in my state of grogginess. So I peeked into his room and there he was just laying on his bed cuddling with his two blankets smiling up at me. He must have went and pushed the button his music thingy and went back to his bed. I'm shocked that he didn't just come out of his room and get me. He was also so happy (he usually wakes up cranky). It was a nice surprise. Now nap time is soon and I'm scared. Adam did so well with bed time (and he even does it on my nights off) that I know that I might bomb nap time. I guess we'll see.
But yay for another accomplishment on Cayden's part! No bottle, no crib.. Next step.. No diapers!! Just got to get him over his fear of the big bad toilet! :)

That's awesome!!! Caedyn STILL doesn't fall asleep on her own. I know a lot of this is "my fault". I'm just not willing to go through the "training". :)
Yeah!! for the bed, for the crib, for Cayden... for baby #2... for so many things!! Love you!!
... and Bubba STILL needs someone in the room with him at night when falling asleep. Good for you. Don't fall into the trap we did! It's hard to get out!
