This morning was the evaluation with the ladies from DDI Vantage who works with the Early Intervention with the State of Utah (not a free service here.. but not too pricey!). Anyway, Cayden loved having them here. He loved playing with them and seeing all their cool toys. There were 3 ladies and they each had their own evaluation and it was kind of overwhelming for me.. Cause they were constantly talking with me.. Which is good :) The only thing that went bad was when the RN wanted to check his hearing and he was not having it! She tried to put this ear bud thingy in his ear and he wasn't getting distracted by the cool she was showing him at the same time. So yay! We get to go to the health dept. to get it done. (which I just called and we're going tomorrow morning..) Anyway.. The ladies kept telling me how smart he is and adorable.. Cayden has a very expressive face apparently :) Cayden really does show off for strangers. But he also gets stuck on one activity for a while.. Like the one lady had him stacking blocks and then tried to move on (after 2 min of blocks) to another activity and he wouldn't have anything to do with it. He wanted the blocks! haha! :) But they said that's normal for a 2 year old. :) But all in all, the ladies made me feel so good and not put me down at all which was a relief. I was scared I was going to be chastised for his lack of "expressive language."
At the end, they gave me stats of different developments and what age he's at and he's 25 months old in 6 days.. They also said that his fine motor will be a little low because he kept getting stuck on stuff and wasn't able to get tested in those things he blew off.. So here ya go:
Good:
Gross Motor: 27 months
Fine Motor: 23 months
Social/Emotional: 30 months
Adaptive/Self Help: 30 months
Not so much:
Cognative: 19 months
Receptive Language: 19 months
Expressive Language: 14 months
That looks really bad. But I'm optimistic that it'll improve drastically. I've already got a call back to set up another evaluation with a specialist that deals with Expressive Language. We're going to set goals and talk about what to do from here. I'm so excited for the help and can't be more grateful! Just seeing Cayden interact with these ladies gave me the giggles. He's so cute and willing to learn. I just didn't know how to help him! And now I will know.. And that has given me a lot of hope. I'll keep ya updated :)

Oh thats so good!! I was wondering if you had talked to your doctor about all that. So glad that you were able to get him evaluated and not feel like they were chastizing you...that's the way it should be!
Bella never wanted them to put stuff in her ears, either...the last appointment we had...maybe 6 months ago, was when she finally was ok with people messing with her ears!
I'm sure he'll take to the therapy just great and be talking your ear off in no time!
