Prepare for a long one..
It all started the night before. I wasn't allowed to have food or drink or even WATER after midnight. So we tried to go to bed around 11 so I wouldn't be tempted.. Not having water was probably the worst for me. Cause I wake up with the driest mouth possible.. Not fun! Anyway. We get up early (earlier than Cayden since he decided it'd be fun to wake up at 5 for half an hour) and showered. Then got Cayden ready and they ate breakfast while I sat on the computer trying to will away the nerves and paying bills. Adam and I took Cayden to my mother in law's and set off for the place. I was so nervous I was shivering and my legs were shaking.
We get there and thank goodness the nurses and the receptionists are funny and were making the situation as lighthearted as possible. We had to wait while this teenage boy was getting finished. I saw the nurse walk him out and he had this white thing wrapped around his head (later got one myself - it was like a long sock for 2 ice packs to be secured against your cheeks - genius really!) So then they walk me back and just start putting on the plastic bib and then started checking for a good vein. When they put that rubber band thingy around my arm to put in the IV I thought I was going to die! It was so tight the pain was horrible. But I didn't feel a THING when they put in the IV. So i guess it was okay. After that, they started putting the tools on the tray and I just closed my eyes because there was no way I wanted to see exactly what they were going to use in my mouth. Not cool. The nurse put in the medicine in the IV and I remember tapping my finger to let them know I was awake still just with my eyes closed. I believe the doctor asked if I was okay. and the nurses made sure I was okay too. Next thing I know one of the nurses was shaking my shoulder saying I can wake up now. But while out, I swear I could feel them stitching me up with the thread going through my lips. It was such a weird feeling. They also asked me if I was okay after waking up. with my mouth full of gauze and SWOLLEN beyond belief I mumbled yes a couple of times. But seriously why do you ask ppl that when they can barely move their mouth!? hahaha.. :)
Waking up was probably the weirdest things in my life! Just suddenly trying to focus was the hardest thing. I kept wanting to go back to sleep. Focusing was hard because I didn't have my glasses on and so it was blurry anyway plus a dizzy blurry too - it was bad. I kept asking for my glasses too.. haha! A nurse put this sock wrap thing around my head with the ice packs. The pain I felt in my mouth sucked!! and I was INCREDIBLY thirsty.. Then the doctor came in and said that I need to get an x-ray to make sure they got all the PIECES OF TEETH OUT OF MY GUMS.. Come on now.. Really? So I'm trying to focus and trying to walk. We get the X-ray and they see that there's a root still.. Great right? It was even the side they were thinking they forgot a piece in. so I'm still so out of it I didn't know rather to cry or laugh! So they opened me up on my left bottom side and DRILLED out the root and then stitched me back up. HORRIBLE! I so didnt' need to be awake for that. Its like - why didn't you notice that ROOT before? The interesting thing is that they have never seen a wisdom tooth with the extra root that they had to get out. So I'm a weird case! :) We knew that.
Anyway.. after that fun-ness, I went to the recovery room where Adam came in and sat for a minute. Just a minute too before the nurse asked him to pull the car to the doctor parking under the building. Then a minute after that, I was up and walking to go outside. (Typing this and remembering it is making me SOOO light headed) I was very light headed and just wanted to sit and all that. So in the car, I was SUCH a chatter box after getting the courage up. I first just texted him stuff because the gauze and the dryness was making me gag. I kept telling him stuff and Adam kept telling me to rest my mouth. I was actually not in a lot of pain at that time. It was such a surreal experience that I just couldn't believe that I just had my wisdom teeth extracted. But I did talk too much that the dryness of my mouth and the gauze made me start dry heaving like I was going to puke. Adam FREAKED. haha.. It was kinda funny looking back. We were driving and he just started scrambling to get the bucket that we brought so I wouldn't puke all over the car.
We get home and he has to help me up the 3 flights of stairs and into bed. I was so lightheaded. But I was never nauseasous. Not once did I puke or get sick to my stomach. Then Adam left after setting up the projector and hooked it up to the box for satellite. I didn't feel like sleeping which was weird. Adam went to relieve Colleen (Adam's mom) from watching Cayden and got my pain meds, penicillian and pudding (along with the list of Costco groceries). He also got my Redbox's that I reserved.
The next couple of days consisted of me on our bed with the projector and movies. The bleeding stopped by that night around 10. Eating soup and soft things sucked. I'm glad I'm on a normal diet kinda. They still kill.. but its not even close to those days after the surgery. I actually think most of the stitches are dissolved and I might have pulled some of them out on accident. :) but all is good.. Got the kinda okay to be on normal food - can't have chips or popcorn for 2 weeks.. I never have those anyway so I think i'm good. My gums will be fully healed in 2 weeks.. :)
