So Saturday I was taking a test for a post office job and my lovely sister in law, Cindy, watched Cayden for me. While there, Cayden was walking around the edges of the couches and fell down. He bumped his lip on a side table and it split open.
After my test and Adam got home from work, we went up to Primary Children's ER to see if they think he is in need of stitches. (Which Cindy called our Doctor and he said probably should take him up to Primary's) We had one nurse come in and look at it. Then the Nurse Practitioner (Who looked like Dad) came in and explained to us what was going to happen. Next, the supervising MD came in and explained it to us again (there goes 200 bucks for a five minute conversation.. haha) Anyway, after waiting for a while, the Nurse Practitioner Steve and two nurses came in to stitch him up. They gave him some sedative up his nose that supposedly felt like he got pool water up his nose. The sedative was to make him really "drunk" and have amnesia while the procedure was being done. He was hilarious!! Steve had to straighten up the gash so it was an even stitch. Cayden laughed. They gave him some numbing stuff so he wasn't crying while he got stitched up. Cayden laughed. They were cleaning up him and putting that iodine soap on. Cayden giggled and laughed. The nurse was so cute with Cayden and calling Steve silly and it just made Cayden laugh and laugh. By the end, Adam was getting alittle white in the face. He walked out once got some fresh air. When he came back, Steve said "alright, three more stitches" and that made Adam a little more wosy. So the nurse keeping track of Cayden's blood pressure and what not had Adam lay on the floor. After the stitches were done, Adam was ordered to lay on the bed Cayden was on until Cayden could be released. Also by the end, Cayden was starting to come out of his sedative mode and was starting to realize that they were doing stuff to him. But they finished and I got to hold him and feed him a popsicle to see if the sedation would make him sick.
All in all it was a good experience. I was just happy it was only a few stitches. While waiting for our room, a 5 year old girl was rushed in having a seizure. Before Steve could come stitch up Cayden, he was sewing up a little boy who got trampled by a Moose and another boy who ran into a hitch. So we were very lucky!
Here are some pictures of the process.. There are some sections missing of the procedure due to Adam leaving the room and laying on the floor and me not wanting to watch!!! :)
See the Nurse was making him laugh!! It was cute to see him drugged up :) is that sad? haha.. Then this one down below.. He was a little sleepy but still giggle two seconds later. The nurse was trying to get him to smile for the picture, he wasn't going to have it. :)
The lovely soap he had on his face was very tempting for him to eat :) And he liked Steve, he looked like Dad. Darn forgot to get a picture!!
This next one, is the final stitches (before Adam got wosy) and Adam feeling sick. Also the last picture is him all stitched up plus a little swelling.
Even though this was a semi traumatic experience as a mommy, I learned to be calm and be the strong one since Adam obviously can't handle blood. Haha!! Just kidding!! He was strong for me!! So that was nice!!
The nurse and nurse practitioner LOVED Cayden. Everyone did. They kept saying "thank you for bringing him in for entertaining us" and "Oh I think this going to take 3 hours or so.." They sure were entertained by Cayden!! He laughed SO much!! It was cute!!
Check the post below for VIDEOS!! :)
